Obsolescence Officer - One Harvest

Location: Sydney, NSW

About the role

Based in Garden Island, this is an integral role supporting our Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) program. The role will work closely with the Asset Performance and Optimisation Group (APOG) team and will be the focal point for all LHD materiel system obsolescence program activities. The role will work closely with the Technical Support Network (TSN) to ensure early identification of obsolescence and will develop, deploy and manage an obsolescence register and its data.

Responsibilities could include:

- Support the APOG team with the ongoing execution of the Obsolescence Monitoring Program
- Be an active member of the Obsolescence Working Group and the Obsolescence IPT with other stakeholders, including those from other SPO's
- Align spares obsolescence details within various systems
- Working with the Supply Support Team, ensure the implementation of identified actions to manage obsolescence, which may include life of type buy, run down of stores before changing to new product or immediate change to recent product.
- Conduct Codification and Cataloguing ensuring appropriate obsolescence status is identified on parts and newly introduced parts are codified.
- Support the Logistics Technical Assessor to provide cover during leave or surge as required.
- Working with Strategic Procurement, ensure local supplier capability is understood to Australianise any systems or parts where possible.
- Working with the Demand Planner, ensure TML information is updated where appropriate.
- Support the Engineering Team, where required, in the review and sign off in the Engineering Change Process (ENG07).

About you

You will have exceptional communication skills with the ability to establish strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally. You will have demonstrated ability to work autonomously and pride yourself on your ability to identify inaccurate data and inefficient procedures and find effective solutions. You will have a strong drive and passion for the Defence industry and possess the following:

- Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain)
- Engineering degree and/or Technical Trade qualification to a minimum of certificate IV level in an appropriate field;
- Demonstrated experience in managing the obsolescence of ship and shore systems, sub-systems, parts and consumables;




- Relevant industry experience in obsolescence of ship and shore systems, sub-systems, parts and consumables, or in obsolescence management, logistics support or in a lifecycle engineering role;
- Working knowledge of an Asset Management Environment;
- Preferably an advanced understanding of Defence System, such as NAVALLOW, AIMS, MILIS, and the employment of these tools in managing obsolescence, remediation activities and process improvement.
