Position Summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, focusing on the efficient picking and packing of orders, unloading containers, and maintaining inventory control. This role requires a hands-on leader who ensures safety, security, and effective team management.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations:
- Hands-On Picking and Packing: Actively participate in and supervise the accurate and timely picking and packing of furniture orders to meet daily delivery schedules, ensuring items are carefully handled.
- Unloading Containers: Engage directly in the unloading of furniture containers, ensuring goods are correctly handled, stored, and protected from damage, while overseeing the process as needed.
- Order Dispatch: Personally manage and participate in the dispatch processes to ensure all furniture shipments leave on time each day, with a focus on secure handling and transport.
- Reverse Logistics: Handle the receiving, processing, documentation, and careful storage of furniture items returned from customers, ensuring they are managed efficiently, documented accurately, and stored properly.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the small team (initially just one other person) to ensure efficient task completion, providing guidance and support as necessary.
Site Management and Other Responsibilities:
- Warehouse Maintenance: Contribute to maintaining an organized, clean,
and safe warehouse environment by actively participating in daily upkeep tasks, with particular attention to the safe storage and movement of furniture.
- Safety and Security: Enforce safety and security protocols, conducting regular inspections while participating in hands-on tasks, especially concerning the handling and storage of large and heavy furniture items.
- Inventory Control: Assist with monitoring and managing stock levels of furniture, conducting regular stocktakes, and ensuring inventory accuracy and timely replenishment.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in warehouse processes to enhance efficiency and reduce errors, with a focus on practical, hands-on solutions that accommodate the unique challenges of furniture handling.
- Reporting and Communication: Report on warehouse performance, inventory levels, and safety compliance to management, ensuring transparency and alignment with operational goals, with specific attention to the handling and movement of furniture.
Qualifications:
- Experience in a warehouse leadership role with a focus on daily operations.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety practices and inventory management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Forklift licence.
- Physical activity required, including lifting and operating warehouse equipment.
