The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Hot Mills Engineering team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as an Electrical Engineer . As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll have the chance to lead and drive the technical governance and execution of electrical projects, working on the technology that will shape our future. You will be responsible for overseeing various areas, including design, power systems, drives, control systems, and equipment selection, while also identifying opportunities for improvement. This role will challenge you to take ownership of projects, from feasibility to completion, handling both technical engineering and project management aspects.



This is a great opportunity to contribute to the future direction of our Hot Mills Engineering team, being a key player in driving the development of projects that will make a real impact.

What Will You Do?

As an experienced engineer working within a multi-disciplinary team to support the Hot Mills department, you will:

- execute and oversee exciting electrical project work
- lead a group of engineers, driving the team to deliver exceptional results
- manage capital project equipment upgrades, overseeing the whole project lifecycle from design through to commissioning and handover of equipment
- work closely with the plant manufacturing teams to support our various assets in terms of both technical troubleshooting support and process improvement identification and implementation

More About You

You will have a strong foundation in the electrical engineering field, with your expertise being crucial in ensuring that projects are successfully executed, you will also bring:

- a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- experience managing small to medium electrical-based capital projects
- experience with automation systems including PLC, HMI, DCS and SCADA
- knowledge of low voltage distribution systems and motor controls




- experience with variable speed drives and closed-loop control systems
- technical know-how to troubleshoot and solve complex problems efficiently
