Job Description

The Opportunity

At BlueScope we operate Australia's largest steel production facility in Port Kembla, NSW. As the Blast Furnace is an essential part of the steel manufacturing process, this is an exciting time to join our Coke and Ironmaking team! Currently, the No.5 Blast Furnace nears the end of its service life, and the relining of the No.6 Blast Furnace is essential for ensuring the future of steelmaking in the Illawarra region. BlueScope is also dedicated to its decarbonisation strategy and 2050 net zero goal which are aligned with the life of the blast furnace campaign, this is expected to last up to 20 years!

The Blast Furnace is an integral part of our supply chain operations, and we are excited to grow our team – join our team as a Shift Electrician. Learn on the operational No.5 Blast Furnace and become an integral part of the exciting reline, commissioning and blow in of No.6 Blast Furnace.

What will you do?

You will join a cross-functional team that ensures equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability.



This essential role works a 12-hour rotating day and night shift, 7 days a week. You will also:

- follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
- perform secure, effective and effective emergency repairs
- fault-find on electrical equipment including PLC’s, drives and instrumentation systems
- perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings

More about you

You are driven by self-development, committed to our success, and have technical experience within an industrial, manufacturing environment. You will bring:

- electrical trade

qualifications

- current A Grade NSW Electrical License
- experience working with PLC’s and drives
- have a strong commitment to safety
- experience in fault finding and problem solving
- initiative in carrying out equipment repairs
