Your Opportunity
As a TAFE Teacher (Electrotechnology), you have the opportunity to influence the careers of future tradespersons by teaching your extensive industry knowledge to students in a classroom or educational setting.
We are looking for someone with current industry experience, knowledge and qualifications in the Electro-technology trade to join our teaching team.
You will contribute to developing and delivering quality learning, teaching and assessment to a wide range of clients through:
- Outcome focussed vocational education and training (VET) programs;
- Linking with industry, schools, universities, community, other TAFE and VET providers;
- Maintaining currency with industry practices, workplace delivery and contemporary teaching methodologies and philosophies; and
- Working in an environment of ongoing change and continuous improvement.
This position will be offered on a fixed term temporary full-time or part-time basis for 12 months unless,
otherwise determined.
The position reports to the Educational Team Leader and is based at TAFE Queensland’s Ipswich campus, however the appointed candidate may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses or worksites.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must possess relevant formal vocational qualifications (minimum Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (UEE30811) or equivalent), and the following:
Current relevant licenses (a QLD Electrical Workers License) – possession of electrical contracting licence would also be highly regarded;
- Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
- Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided; and
- Evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment.
Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
- TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills (or TAELLN401A) and TAEASS502 Design and Develop Assessment Tools (or TAESS502A or TAEASS502B); or
- TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or
- TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or its successor; or
- TAE50211 Diploma of Training Design and Development; or
- TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development or its successor; or
- A higher-level qualification in adult education (approved by TAFE Queensland).
Salary
The salary range for a TAFE Teacher is $81,867 - $109,586 (gross) per annum, depending on educational qualifications held and teaching experience.

- Possess skills and knowledge of national training packages and accredited courses to support competency development and the ability to respond positively to industry and individual needs.
- Demonstrate capacity for best practice in the management of teaching and learning activities including the development of industry relevant, versatile, innovative, technology enhanced learning options, training products and solutions.
- Demonstrate capacity for initiative, self-management, teamwork and sustainable practice, with the ability to accept, promote and manage change through the use of well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrate commitment to self-development with the focus on maintaining skills contemporary industry and teaching practices and the use of educational technologies and Learning Management Systems to support learning.
- Possess sound knowledge of safe, equitable and anti-discriminatory work practices and demonstrate ability to be flexible, inclusive, responsive and deliver quality student experience.
