HR Advisor required for a well-respected mining organisation in Mount Isa, QLD.
Your new company
Our client: a world-renowned mining giant is a long-term global leader in the Hard Rock mining sector and is also at the forefront of providing sustainable mining services across the world and leader in community services with respect to mining. They are currently seeking an experienced Human Resource Advisor to join the team on a permanent full-time capacity. This is a residential role based in Mount Isa.
Your new role
Reporting to the HR Manager, you will support the organisation by ensuring the human resources needs to the business, leaders and employees are met in accordance with the organisations policies, procedures, and processes. You will:
- Ensure the management and adherence to all human resources related policies and procedures (as well as Enterprise Agreements and legislation), including but not limited to remuneration and benefits, leave, termination, performance management, injury management and EMA's.
- Negate risk to the business by effectively managing employee and industrial relations for the designated area, including dealing with third party unions, and conducting prompt investigations into grievances, fair treatments, and serious breaches. Work actively with leadership to better manage their people,
to make sound decisions and reduce the amount of complaints.
- Provide prompt customer service to clients, focussed on problem solving, quick resolutions, using data to identify and manage issues, and consistent and fair treatment of employees. Work closely with Admins to support and coach to ensure timely and accurate service.
- Build strong relationships with the department leadership, being visible in the areas of responsibility, providing easy access for employees and leaders to access HR, attend relevant department meetings and regular attendance at Safestart meetings.
- Maintain and manage HR information systems with accurate information, including but not limited to establishment, organisational charts, PRC coding, and any other employee related data.
- Communicate effectively with employees and leadership on relevant changes and important information related to their employment. Escalate issues and relevant information up the line where warranted, and maintain confidentiality at all times when dealing with sensitive employment matters.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- Minimum three years' post graduate experience in HR or business-related field, preferably within the resources or heavy industry sector.
- A strong understanding and applied knowledge of Fair Work,
the NEW and Modern Awards;
- An understanding of the labour market, remuneration and attraction strategy.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills, driven by strong communication skills - written, verbal & non-verbal.
- Effective influencing, negotiating and engagement skills, driven by an ability to build strong relationships.
- Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities.
- The ability to analyse and solve problems, driven by company policy and procedures, displaying initiative to get the best outcome.
- A proficiency and sound knowledge in HRIS and advanced Microsoft suite skills;
- Ability to hold and conduct difficult conversations, supporting and coaching line leaders to deliver their own crucial conversations.
