Support a leading global communications company as sole Legal Counsel for Australia | Broad commercial role

Your new company
This global organisation is one of the world's largest communications and public relations companies. Due to ongoing growth, it is now looking to strengthen its significant global legal team by adding its first lawyer into its Australian arm of the business.

Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Legal (APAC) based in Singapore, you will be responsible for providing legal support across all aspects of of the business.

Key accountabilities will include:

- advising agencies on general commercial law matters, including conducting legal clearance, negotiating marketing services contracts, media planning and buying agreements as well as other service offerings, including digital advertising and content and performance marketing;
- reviewing, drafting and negotiating services agreements and other commercial contracts (such as master service agreements, statements of work, licences and non-disclosure agreements);
- preparing responses to pitch proposals;
- advising on regulatory compliance matters including data privacy, advertising clearance and compliance, licensing and other IP matters;
- providing training and support to the business and agencies on relevant matters in the creative, media and digital agency space;
- supporting the legal team within the broader global group as required.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an 7-9 year PAE commercial lawyer with previous experience in advertising and marketing matters. You will have strong knowledge of commercial contract and IP law and be comfortable in working in a fairly autonomous environment. Additional experience in IT/technology, data privacy and employment law will ne highly regarded. You will have a strong ability to assess risk, work under pressure and prioritise issues while demonstrating a pragmatic and commercial approach. Importantly, you will have a flexible and collaborative approach and strong stakeholder management skills. You must hold or be eligible to hold an unrestricted Australian practising certificate.
