About the Role
Within the F&M; Department, the Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships team is responsible for generating revenue from high net worth individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, by recruiting new supporters and developing relationships with existing supporters that maximise their support to CARE.
This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in the Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships team to build and expand an existing portfolio of CARE Australia supporters through initiating, developing and stewarding strong relationships with prospective and existing supporters. You will engage, secure and sustain significant investment to an agreed annual target. You will manage supporter journeys through prospect research (with support from the Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships Administrator), cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships, you will work as part of a team to develop and implement an annual operating plan for the Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships team, aligned with the budget framework and broader strategic planning of the Fundraising and Marketing Department.
You will have the opportunity to develop cases for support for CARE’s work with communities in countries in the Asia-Pacific region to support them to diversify their food production and income, manage their water and natural resources more effectively, and care for their livestock in a climate-resilient way — all the while drawing upon local and Indigenous knowledge, skills, and technology. By advocating for these solutios to be embedded into national policy, we work as allies with local organisations, women and their communities to tackle the unfair and unjust systems that keep people in poverty.

Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of the Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships team, in line with the team’s strategy,
to generate revenue through prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
- Work with the Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships team and Donor Relations team to build CARE’s internal pipeline of major donors, ensuring there is a constant focus on prospect identification and cultivation.
- Work with the Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships Administrator to identify, research and initiate contact with new external prospects / leads.
- Through best practice stewardship, retain levels of annual giving of a portfolio of over 50 individual major donors.
- Work with the Head of Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships to develop strong proposals, pitches, cases for support, and project reports to update funders on the impact of their investment in CARE’s work.
- Work closely with the Head of Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships on engagement with the International Programs department to proactively develop projects requiring funding, both long term development projects and humanitarian emergencies.
- Work closely with the Microfinancing team and the Product Development & Marketing team to identify and develop approaches for funding.
- Prepare regular reports and analysis for the Head of Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships.
- Work with the Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships to engage with the International Programs Department to select and appropriately package projects requiring funding, both long term development projects and humanitarian emergencies, and track funding status on a regular basis.
- Work with the Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships Administrator to manage CARE’s Workplace Giving Program.
- Other activities to support Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships as directed
- Keep abreast with latest trends in philanthropy and corporate partnerships in Australia and identify ways to follow best practice at CARE Australia.
Ideally you would have:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a role requiring excellent influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships to achieve specific outcomes with a range of audiences including well-informed senior stakeholders, senior corporate representatives, and prospective customers/clients, supporters or donors.
- Highly skilled in combining information from multiple sources, including reports and budgets, and communicating it in compelling and appropriate ways: verbally, visually or in writing.
- Interest in and exposure to generating revenue from corporate partnerships and philanthropy, with a desire to learn more.
- High level of computer literacy and proficiency with personal computers including word processing, email, spreadsheet and database software.
- Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and organisation and time management skills, including the ability to manage workflows and balance competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Flexibility and good humour when problem-solving and working as part of a team.
- Based in either Sydney or Melbourne, with availability to travel interstate on an occasional basis.
- Willingness to complete Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA) Code of Conduct training.
- An understanding of the importance of empowering women and girls and a commitment to the protection of children and the prevention of sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse
Desirable
- Established networker with good working knowledge of building relationships with prospective high-value clients/supporters and demonstrated success in securing significant partnerships and/or gifts.
- A qualification in fundraising and/or relevant tertiary studies.
- Interest in and exposure to the international development and humanitarian aid sector, with a desire to learn more.
