Your new company
This Department is entering a time of significant growth and transformation. The department is responsible for protecting Australia from sophisticated cyber-attacks and helps develop and implement offensive cyber capabilities in support of Australia's interests.
Your new role
You will be responsible for working as a member of a team to develop against requirements for existing software components, integrating Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) technologies, as well as documenting technical processes and assisting with testing and deployment activities.
You will also:
- Design, code, test, correct and document complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications.
- Identify and resolve issues with applications, following agreed procedures.
- Identify and engage with users/ stakeholders, define relevant characteristics (e.g. 'personas') and describe users goals and tasks (e.g. as 'user stories').
- Use agreed procedures based on understanding of how web page look and feel, controlled through CSS and page templates.
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrated ability to develop complex programs and web-based application software using a variety of languages (e.g. Python, Java)
and development environments to meet customer requirements and provide high quality user experience.
- Sound knowledge of software engineering processes and demonstrated ability to contribute to software engineering process improvement to deliver scripting using a variety of languages (e.g. JavaScript) and secondary technologies/skills (e.g. SQL).
- Ability to identify system interdependencies, contributing to design reviews and liaising with other system stakeholders to resolve conflict and coordinate integrated solutions.
- Ability to document technical processes and conduct reviews of other team members' work to assist in the continuous improvement process. This will include developing and enhancing procedures and with detailed design/architecture documentation, in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
