Suburban Transport Services Pty Ltd is currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Accountant to join our Finance and Administration team at our Kilburn office, in South Australia.
We are seeking a bright, energetic self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and in a team, with minimal supervision, who is willing to take responsibility and ownership of critical business processes.
Position
Accountant – Initially for a period of 2 years on contract basis with strong possibility to continue, dependent on performance.
Working Hours
Full Time – 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Monitor and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and invoicing processes
- Payroll preparation and/or supervision
- Reconciliations – Balance Sheet, bank, customer and creditor accounts reconciliations and follow up
- Preparation and lodging of BAS, Payroll Tax, Superannuation and any other statutory amounts payable by the Company
- Managing month end procedures
- Staff supervision
- Any other ad hoc finance and administrative duties as required
The appointee will initially be responsible for overseeing the Group's Revenue Function, which includes managing the invoicing process and ensuring the timely collection of outstanding payments.
With a diverse customer base comprising both corporate clients and individual customers, the role requires balancing a professional, friendly rapport with the ability to adopt a firm approach when necessary to enforce collection protocols.
An integral aspect of this position involves the ongoing reconciliation of customer accounts. Candidates must have hands-on experience in managing complex and time-intensive reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have;
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting
- Completion of, or progress towards, CPA/CA qualification
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels
- Strong aptitude for financial analysis and technical skills
- Excellent data entry and/or experience with preparation and uploading of files into financial systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A proactive, adaptable approach with a positive "can-do" attitude
Desirable skills
- Experience with the AS 400 Accounting System or similar
- Experience in the reconciliation of complex accounts
