We are seeking a skilled Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper to join a prestigious and historic organisation located in the heart of Newcastle CBD.

About the Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in bookkeeping or assistant accounting to take on a vital role within an established team. You will be responsible for a wide range of financial tasks, including reconciliations, payroll processing, reporting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Reconciliation of various accounts, including member, asset clearing, credit cards, and payroll.
- Processing payroll, checking journals, and lodging payroll tax.
- Preparation and presentation of financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow.
- Management of GST, PAYG, BAS, and superannuation lodgements.
- Oversight of accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Annual financial reconciliations and liaison with auditors.
- Budget preparation and cost updates.




- Attendance at finance sub-committee meetings and supporting reporting requirements.

About You:
To excel in this role, you will possess:

- Proven experience in bookkeeping, assistant accounting, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of financial systems, reconciliations, and reporting.
- High attention to detail with the ability to investigate and resolve imbalances.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
