How does this Position contribute to our Community?
- Supports a healthy, secure, inclusive and empowered community through providing effective administration and other support for community, culture and recreation projects, events and initiatives
- Assists in supporting a healthy and engaged community through the administration of Council’s volunteer programs.
What does this Position do?
- Provides administrative and general support for community, culture and recreation projects, programs, events and initiatives.
- Provides administrative support for Council volunteering programs and undertakes community liaison and engagement inclusive of community surveys, newsletters and social media activities.
Key Objectives:
- Administration support for Council volunteer programs
- Administration support for Council’s Community Grant Funding Program
- Creation and distribution of regular community and volunteer e-newsletters and surveys
- Support development of Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
- Coordinate meetings of the RAP Working Party, inclusive of agenda and minute preparation
- Support implementation of actions with Council’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan, Empowering our Elders strategy and other relevant plans and strategies
- Provide administrative and general support for Community, Culture and Recreation programs and projects
- Undertake social media activities and preparation of promotional material for community, culture and recreation projects, programs, initiatives and collaborations
- Support the organisation and delivery of Council organised community events and functions
- Creation and review of templates and other documents
- Obtain quotations and prepare purchase orders and documentation in line with Council’s Procurement Policy
- Reporting of incidents, near miss, injuries, property damage and identified hazards
- Take reasonable care to protect their own safety and the health and safety of others
- Follow reasonable instruction on health and safety and injury management
- Actively participate in training and WHS programs as required
Essential Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Demonstrated experience in similar position
- Ability to work with a broad range of people
- Demonstrated Experience in Office Administration
- Drivers Licence - Class C
- Proficient IT Skills
Highly regarded but not essential
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Demonstrated experience in volunteer support
- Demonstrated experience in event support
- Demonstrated experience in records management
- Demonstrated experience in social media marketing
- Knowledge of community networks and organisations within Port Lincoln
Key performance indicators
- Volunteers are engaged in line with Council’s Volunteer Management and Risk Management frameworks
- E-newsletters and social media campaigns are undertaken in line with Council's communication and social media policy framework and within identified timeframes
- Accurate and timeous compilation of Community Grant Funding documentation.
