Coordinator Utilities – Weipa Northern Operations - Residential

Location: Weipa, Queensland

Roster: 4, 5, 5 day shift roster

Employment Type: Full-time | Permanent

We’re looking for a skilled and safety-focused Coordinator Utilities to support our Northern Operations maintenance team in Weipa. This is a key role where you’ll oversee maintenance activities working in a multi disciplined team of tradespersons and ensure our asset management processes are executed to the highest standards.

About the role

This role is a great opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and a 'can do' attitude to lead an operational team towards achieving our production and safety targets. Working a 4, 5, 5 day shift roster and reporting to the Supervisor, Utilities you will be:

- Leading a team of operators / maintainers working on assets across wastewater treatment, potable water, process water, fuel, tailings and light vehicles.
- Leading the team towards achieving an interdependent safety culture by utilizing daily shift starts, safety interactions, human performance and critical risk management tools
- Maintaining a strong level of control over the utilities infrastructure which includes:
- Multiple tailings and water storage dams
- Mine processing and potable water supply for the Northern mining operations and township.
- Multiple Sewage Treatments plants including the Town sewage treatment plants and associated infrastructure
- Fuel infrastructure supporting both the mine and township
- Light vehicle maintenance
- Active supervision and co-ordination of maintenance activities and improvement projects as directed by the supervisor
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement in safe production

What you will bring

- Previous leadership experience of a dynamic team in an operational environment
- Prior experience in Tailings, water delivery, treatment plant operations or fuel in an industrial environment
- Stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office suite applications
- Previous experience using SAP

Desirable

- A Diploma in Front Line Management or similar




- Qualifications relevant to water supply and treatment
- Tailings dam management experience
- Experience working in a highly regulated operational environment

Where you’ll be working

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tons of bauxite.





Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce—including 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
