Functional Consultant (SAP HR / Payroll) Your new company
A large enterprise organisation is undertaking a major ERP transformation, transitioning from SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA. An experienced SAP HR & Payroll Functional Consultant is required to support this complex upgrade, ensuring continuity of critical HR and payroll services while enabling long-term digital uplift.
This is a high-impact contract role within a large-scale SAP upgrade program, working closely with internal ERP teams, business stakeholders, and an implementation partner.
Your new role
As the SAP HR & Payroll Functional Consultant, you will play a key role in aligning business requirements with solution design and delivery. You will contribute across solution design, configuration, and conversion activities, supporting the move from ECC HR/Payroll to SAP S/4HANA (H4S4).
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the functional point of contact between the business and the implementation vendor
- Collaborating with HR process owners, ERP platform teams, and IT stakeholders to deliver end-to-end HR and payroll outcomes
- Supporting solution design and reviewing functional deliverables
- Contributing to SAP HR/Payroll configuration to ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing
- Supporting H4S4 conversion activities across core HR processes (PA, OM, PY, ESS, Time & Attendance)
- Providing expert functional input to troubleshoot and resolve system issues
- Ensuring appropriate documentation of configurations, processes,
and workflows
- Staying current with SAP HR/Payroll enhancements and regulatory requirements
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong SAP HR/Payroll functional expertise and experience working on large ERP programs.You will have:
- Proven experience implementing and configuring SAP HR/Payroll solutions
- Strong knowledge of ECC HR/Payroll (HR-PY, HR-PA, HR-OM, ESS)
- Experience supporting or delivering ECC to S/4HANA (H4S4) conversions
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex project environment
- SAP HR certification (advantageous)
- Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Information Systems, or a related discipline
Please note: Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or Current Zealand citizenship is required. The role is subject to background checks, including police and baseline security clearance.
