Our Business Support & Facilities team is currently looking for a Groundskeeper to join the team. This role is responsible for ensuring that the campus grounds are well-maintained and presented to a high standard for everyday use. Working closely with the Head Groundskeeper, this role will perform a range of maintenance tasks while also contributing to the planning and development of the grounds to achieve the desired outcomes.
Other aspects of this role include:
- Assist in maintaining and improving gardens and grounds, ensuring a high standard of presentation and adherence to a maintenance schedule.
- Ensure lawns are irrigated and maintained appropriately throughout the year.
- Maintain and safely operate all grounds equipment, including but not limited to: Trencher, Ride-on Mower, Push Mowers, Hedge Trimmers, Blowers, Whipper Snippers, Chainsaws, and other grounds-related equipment.
- Follow all Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S;) guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Monitor and run irrigation at optimal times to maintain plant health while managing watering costs responsibly.
- Maintain, repair, and install new irrigation lines where needed.
- Trim and remove tree branches that pose a risk or hinder campus operations.
- Regularly trim hedges to maintain a neat and presentable appearance.
- Ensure the car park is clean, presentable, and free of obstacles.
- Keep drains clear and functioning effectively.
- Assist in maintaining the condition of the Car Park Sweeper.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or similar maintenance work.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining a range of gardening and groundskeeping equipment.
- Strong understanding of irrigation systems, maintenance, and water conservation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- A commitment to following WH&S; guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- A keen eye for detail and pride in maintaining high-quality grounds presentation.
