The Aussie Hotel in Shepparton is searching for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to take ownership of our newly renovated kitchen and lead a strong, established team. About the Role

As Head Chef, you'll be responsible for leading all kitchen operations, driving food quality, managing costs and developing a positive team culture. You'll work closely with venue leadership to deliver a consistent and profitable food offering while maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, train, mentor and develop the kitchen team

- Manage rostering, labour costs and kitchen performance

- Maintain exceptional food quality, presentation and consistency

- Create seasonal specials and contribute to menu development

- Oversee stock control, ordering and supplier relationships

- Ensure food safety, compliance and cleanliness standards are maintained

- Manage food costs, recipe costing and kitchen profitability

- Lead from the front during service and support the team in all areas of operation

About You





We're looking for a genuine leader who is passionate about hospitality and building high-performing teams.

You'll Bring

- Minimum 6 years' experience in professional kitchens

- Ideally 3+ years' experience as a Head Chef in a pub, hotel or high-volume venue

- Strong Sous Chefs ready to step into their first Head Chef role are encouraged to apply

- Proven experience managing food and labour costs

- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills

- Strong knowledge of contemporary pub and bistro dining

- A hands-on approach and willingness to lead by example

- A valid driver's licence

- A team-first attitude and commitment to creating a positive kitchen culture
