Job Description
Community engagement and relationship building
- Promote Kakadu Tourism in the local community through robust partnerships with businesses and organisations.
- Build lasting relationships with Traditional Owners (Mirrar and Murrumburr clans) to support collaborative initiatives.
- Represent Kakadu Tourism at local events and identify opportunities for joint ventures and community-driven projects.
Indigenous employment and talent development
- Lead end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees across our hotels and operations.
- Develop tailored talent management plans to attract, support and retain Indigenous staff.
- Assist with the Accor Job Ready Program and support Indigenous employees’ transition into long-term roles.
Cultural awareness and inclusive workplace practices
- Deliver cultural onboarding to non-Indigenous (Balanda) staff to enhance understanding and workplace harmony.
- Provide ongoing support to Indigenous team members, acknowledging the social and cultural realities they may face.
- Collaborate with partners such as Accor, IBA, Children’s Ground, Injalak Arts and others to build sustainable strategies around Indigenous engagement and retention.
Qualifications
- Proven experience & cultural knowledge
At least 2 years in a similar role, with strong knowledge of local Aboriginal communities, customs, and engagement practices.
- Strong communication & leadership skills
Excellent interpersonal, mentoring, and reporting abilities; confident working with diverse stakeholders, including community leaders and boards.
- Strategic thinking & adaptability
Able to plan long-term, navigate complex environments, and lead initiatives with integrity, flexibility, and a passion for Indigenous employment and tourism.
