The School
Whitsunday Anglican School is an independent, co-educational day and Boarding School from K - 12, situated in the beautiful surroundings of tropical Mackay and the Whitsunday region. Role and responsibilities
The Instrumental Music tutor is required to:
- Provide quality education in support of the ethos of the School
- Manage students effectively
- Demonstrate and teach sound instrument techniques
- Demonstrate music literacy and general musical skill
- Promote learning as something to be enjoyed and maximised for each student throughout every lesson
- Fulfil the "teacher’s role" in and out of class
- Maintain good order and discipline.
- Providing a caring workplace.
The Instrumental Music Tutor acts as a contractor to the school. Tutors are required to invoice the Music Department for lessons taught, at an agreed hourly rate inclusive of superannuation guaranteed rate as determined through discussion on appointment. Teaching loads will be determined by the Head of the Arts and reviewed each term according to the number of Instrumental enrolments.

Skills and experience
Recommended Candidate Profile:
Piano and Voice
- High level of skill on Piano and Voice training.
- Your qualifications (and if you are currently studying).
- Ability to teach Piano and Voice to individual students and small groups with a focus on enjoyment and skill development and growth through the application of your expertise.
Instrumental Music Tutors - General
- Encourage student participation in School ensembles and assist students to prepare ensemble repertoire.
- Active recruitment and publicity for the Instrumental Music Program.
- Responsibility for maintaining accurate lesson attendance records, and making up missed lessons, where possible.
- Liaison with Parents, Teachers and Students.
- Writing and submitting Instrumental Music reports each semester.
- Assisting with performances at school concerts and events (by negotiation with the Head of the Arts. Additional hours would be paid at the standard hourly rate.)
- Good organisation and self-management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Ability to demonstrate performance skills on one or more instruments.
- An enthusiastic approach to teaching and promoting Instrumental Music.
