Aussie Founders Club

Melbourne | Hybrid (mostly remote, in person for events)

~8-12 hrs/week, casual

I'm Megan, founder of Aussie Founders Club. We're a community of 1,800+ Australian startup operators, around 3,800 on our newsletter, 20+ events a year, and a podcast (Life After Launch) launching soon. We're hiring our first dedicated content person.

AFC needs to grow into a media engine, not just a community with a newsletter. The Slack is busy, the events are running, the podcast is around the corner - but I'm the bottleneck on everything we put out externally. Our Instagram is patchy. Our LinkedIn channel doesn't get used. I want to work with someone who's obsessed with figuring out how we make AFC the best at this.

What you'd do

Lead our Instagram. Bring our LinkedIn channel to life (if LinkedIn sounds scary, it'll be with my help!). Be at AFC events with a camera, capturing what's actually happening. Help us design content series we can run consistently around the newsletter. Help us figure out the systems behind all of it - what we edit in-house, what we brief to an offshore editor, what works on each platform.

You bring the ideas, the eye, and the camera. I also have ideas and will execute across writing and creative direction.

Down the track, ad hoc shoots for Kairos clients - capturing what it's like to work inside a client business. A few hours here and there, not your main role.

What I'm looking for

You're already making content somewhere. Your own account, a friend's business, a side project - doesn't matter where. Taste matters more than follower count.

A creative eye. You know how to shoot on a phone. You think in formats and hooks.

You ship - flexible schedule only work if you actually do the thing.

Comfortable in a room with founders. Based in Melbourne.

Bonus if you've directed offshore editors, you use AI tools in how you already work, or you're studying comms, media, or marketing.

Why this role is worth your time

You'd lead content across one of Australia's most active founder communities. You'd be in rooms most people at your stage don't get into. The role is small now. As it proves out, there's more hours, broader marketing work, and Kairos employer branding shoots for client businesses.

$30-35/hr casual plus super, depending on experience. Casual that converts to ongoing if it's working.

How to apply

Four steps:

1. Answer the screening questions in the application

2. Send 2-3 links to content you've made

3. If you make the shortlist, I'll set up a call

4. The final step is a short pitch on how you'd approach this role. Use AI to build it if that's how you work - that's part of what we're testing for.

Start in the next 2-4 weeks.
