Mainframe Programmer - Adelaide - Contract Your current role
We are seeking an experienced Natural/Adabas Developer who can quickly contribute with minimal ramp-up time. This role requires hands-on expertise in legacy mainframe environments and the ability to work independently on existing systems.The ideal candidate has strong practical experience coding in Natural/Adabas and solid exposure to related mainframe technologies, including IDMS/ADSO, COBOL, and IBM Job Control Language (JCL).

What you'll need to succeed
Key Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and support applications in a Natural/Adabas environment
- Perform hands-on coding with minimal supervision or training
- Work with existing legacy systems and ensure system stability and performance
- Support production issues, enhancements, and defect resolution
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders as required

Required Skills & Experience
- Proven hands-on experience developing in Natural/Adabas
- Significant experience with:
- IDMS / ADSO
- COBOL
- IBM Job Control Language (JCL)
- Strong understanding of legacy mainframe environments




- Ability to work independently and become productive quickly
- Experience maintaining or enhancing long-running enterprise applications

Nice to Have
- Experience working in complex or highly regulated enterprise environments
- Exposure to application modernisation or system migration initiatives
