Join a dynamic and collaborative research environment within the Walker Research Group at IMB, where you will play a central role in advancing innovative microbiology and immunology research.
This position contributes to impactful projects focused on recombinant antigen development and biochemical assay testing to investigate correlates of protection. Key responsibilities will include:
- Develop and deliver high-quality research outputs, including publications in respected outlets and contributions to competitive research funding applications
- Undertake laboratory-based research including cloning, protein expression and purification, and development of enzyme and immunological assays
- Contribute to the supervision and development of research assistants and HDR students, fostering a supportive and high-performing research culture
- Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to progress translation of research outcomes, including potential commercialisation of intellectual property
This is a full-time, fixed-term position until the end of 2026 at Academic Level A.
About You
- PhD or near completion in microbiology, immunology, or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in StrepA sVLP vaccine formulation, testing, and development across animal models
- Expertise in analysing immune responses to StrepA antigens using Luminex, ELISA and FACS-based assays
- Proven experience in protein expression and purification,
alongside aseptic laboratory techniques and bacterial culture
- Ability to develop and implement new laboratory techniques with high accuracy, efficiency, and reproducibility
- Solid understanding of laboratory safety requirements and OH&S; protocols
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, with a commitment to mentoring and supporting others
