As part of the merchandising team, the Assistant Buyer for Other Species will be responsible for ensuring that our product offering is competitive, profitable, aligned with market trends, and set up for success onsite. You’ll be integral to building on the reasons why our customers love us!

What You'll be Doing

- Supplier Communication: Maintain regular contact with suppliers to manage orders, resolve issues, and build relationships
- Inventory Management:



Monitor stock levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts and assist with reordering based on sales patterns and inventory turnover.
- Sales Data Analysis: Analyze sales reports and market trends to make data-driven decisions on product selection and inventory management.
- Merch Asset management: responsible for all key selling points of a product - tagging, product descriptions, in-house shooting process, and timeline management
- Product Selection: Assists in selecting products by researching market trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings.
- Documentation: Maintains accurate records of purchases, shipments, and supplier agreements.
- Coordination with other departments: Works closely with marketing, sales, and finance teams to align buying strategies with business goals.
- Product Evaluation: Evaluates the performance of products and suggests improvements or discontinuations based on sales data and customer feedback.

Your Ideal Skills and Experience

- 1-2 years of experience in a retail or e-commerce buying or merchandising role.
- Familiarity with inventory management and product lifecycle processes.
- Experience collaborating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships.
- Background in market research and competitive analysis.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.




- Experience with e-commerce platforms and content management systems.
- Attention to detail in maintaining product information and content standards.
- Analytical skills for making pricing recommendations and identifying product gaps.
- Ability to absorb and act on feedback from various teams.
- Problem-solving skills to address bugs and anomalies promptly.
- Understanding of competitor activity and market trends.

Role Location

At Pet Circle we believe that collaboration and team connection is key for success. This role will be based in Sydney with a blended working arrangement of 3 days per week in our pet friendly offices and the remainder working from home (or the office, if you prefer!) Our working arrangements and your required office day are subject to change in line with business requirements.
