Position objective – a Deadly Choice is a healthy choice:

Deadly Choices aims to empower Aboriginal people to make healthy choices for themselves and their families – to stop smoking, eat good food and exercise daily. Deadly Choices also encourages our people to access their local Aboriginal Health Service and complete an annual ‘health check’.

In Aboriginal slang, if something is ‘deadly’ it is great. As such a Deadly Choice is a good choice, and we encourage community to make such choices each day.

The role will:

- Plan, organise and deliver the Deadly Choices education program to schools and communities.
- Facilitate and role model key health messages and Deadly Choices education program modules, including but not limited to: leadership, chronic disease, physical activity, nutrition, harmful substances,



and tobacco and smoking cessation.
- Distribute health information/program materials and support participants in making healthy lifestyle choices and understanding risk factors.
- Provide direct positive lifestyle, and health education messaging, support and materials.
- Be part time – 3 days per week
- Be able to work from home when not delivering programs.

What we’re looking for in a candidate

- This is an Aboriginal-identified position
- Ability to undertake training in the Deadly Choices education program (interstate travel required)
- Willingness to undertake a Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation
- Commitment to the delivery of quality customer service
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to become proficient with Karadi’s information management systems
- Current Driver Licence (unrestricted)
- National Police Check
- Working With Vulnerable People Card
