Your new role
We're seeking a Senior Data Engineer to drive the evolution of our data platform and lead a high-performing team of data engineers. Reporting to the Head of Architecture, Engineering & Data, you will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling our data platform to support critical business functions across the enterprise. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic platform development, ensuring our data infrastructure scales with business growth while maintaining the highest standards of reliability and performance.
- Previously led and mentored a team of data engineers, fostering technical excellence and innovation.
- Drive adoption of best practices in data engineering and data analytics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Establish technical standards and architectural guidelines for the data platform.
- Develop comprehensive data modelling frameworks and governance protocols
- Experience in designing and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity frameworks.
- Balance competing stakeholder expectations while maintaining platform roadmap focus.
- Manage platform capacity planning and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Champion data quality initiatives and automated testing frameworks.
- Understanding of Batch and Streaming data ingestion patterns.
- Delivery management experience in project planning and execution across complex technical initiatives.

Desirable skills and commercial experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
- Databricks and DBT experience is required.
- 8+ years' experience in data platform development and big data technologies.
- Hands-on experience working with Pyspark and SQL
- Deep experience with the databricks platform in AWS/Azure cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of medallion architecture and modern Lakehouse patterns.
- Expertise in data modelling and governance frameworks for enterprise environments).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to deliver complex environments.
- Financial services experience.
