The Opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on Special Project Trade Specialist to join our Product Development team in Baywater. This full-time role supports the R&D; workshop in the development, testing and modification of prototype heavy vehicles. It’s a great opportunity for a skilled trade professional who enjoys working on new and evolving projects, solving problems, and contributing to innovative vehicle development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with prototype assembly, fabrication and modification
- Support testing and certification activities
- Carry out maintenance on heavy vehicles and workshop equipment
- Contribute to day-to-day workshop operations
- Record work accurately and prepare clear documentation
- Follow safety procedures and support compliance requirements
About You
You are a qualified mechanical trade professional with strong hands-on experience and a practical,
solutions-focused mindset. You are comfortable working in a changing workplace, can read technical drawings, and bring a high level of care to both your workmanship and documentation. You will also have:
- Cert IV in Mechanical Trade (essential)
- Experience in a mechanical trade, ideally in R&D; or manufacturing
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
- Experience with hand, machine and measurement tools
- Knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic systems
- Forklift licence and HR heavy vehicle licence or higher
- Basic understanding of control and electrical systems
