About the role

Mater Research has an exceptional opportunity for a Research Assistant to join the Mater Intellectual Disability and Autism Service (MIDAS). This role encompasses all facets of research, administrative and data capture support for MIDAS.

This will be a 12-month maximum term position, based at Mater’s South Brisbane Campus, and will work 22:48 (0.6 FTE) hours per week.

MR is an internationally recognised leader in medical research, which connects its findings from bench to bedside, translating medical research into clinical practice to deliver better outcomes for our patients and the wider community.

Salary range: $69,165 - $77,464 p.a. full time equivalent (MRI Admin Level 5) plus superannuation and salary packaging

What you’ll be doing

As the MIDAS Research Assistant, you will be responsible for:

- Providing technical and research assistance to senior research staff in activities associated with various projects.
- Perform research literature searches for relevant articles and educational resources under the direction of senior research staff.




- Provide practical and proactive project support and administrative services for projects and stakeholders including ethics and governance applications.
- Assist with data management, data cleaning and analysis of data.
- Assist in the publication of research papers for publication and presentation at conferences and workshops, and in the writing of other documents.
- Assist in and coordinate the design, creation and distribution of content for educational resources, research study materials, and other knowledge translation resources, including for digital resources, webtools and e-learning platforms.

About you

Our ideal applicant is someone who understands or has experience working with people with intellectual disability or those on the autism spectrum. We are looking for applicants who have good communication skills within a team setting and established writing skills.

Essential

- Tertiary qualifications in Health Science or working towards health qualification
- Previous experience or understanding of disability and the health sector in Queensland
- Experience in providing comprehensive administration support, including a proven capability to operate effectively in a complex work environment
- Experience with data management systems and an ability to learn quickly
- Proven high level organisational and time management skills, ability to establish priorities, with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and levels of seniority.




- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written materials in different styles and formats appropriate to the audience.

- Experience in project management
- Experience working as research assistant
