The Prospect

This is an opportunity to work with the Infrastructure Policy and Engagement team (PIO). PIO develops and manages the implementation of the Department’s infrastructure policy spanning Australia’s economic, development and security interests.

You’ll be part of a team leading engagement with likeminded partners on infrastructure, managing a broad set of stakeholder relationships and driving adoption of infrastructure policy priorities.

Your role will support the management of Official Development Assistance (ODA) programs that support quality, sustainable, resilient infrastructure across the Indo-Pacific.

The Role

The Program Officer will be responsible for the following:

- Manage programs and grants that support quality, sustainable, resilient infrastructure across the Indo-Pacific. This may include infrastructure quality, media development and digital connectivity programs
- Managing Departmental grant contributions to the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure’s Infrastructure for Resilient Island States Initiative (CDRI IRIS), Pacific Regional Infrastructure Facility (PRIF) and Blue Dot Network (BDN)




- Ensuring programs meet commonwealth legislative requirements including the grants administration guidelines and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013
- Leading performance and quality reporting requirements for the branch, and coordinating risk management processes
- Working closely with the Infrastructure Fellowships and Engagement Program manager and other IFB staff to effectively support the Department’s international engagement on infrastructure

The Person

- Self-motivated, possess good judgement and have a demonstrated ability to operate flexibly and under limited supervision
- Possess strong skills and experience in program management, including contract management, implementation and budget management. Industry or international grants administration experience is preferred
- Exhibit a high degree of professionalism during regular stakeholder engagement, including with Australian Government agencies, service delivery partners and partner governments
- Ideally possess experience in delivering government-funded programs and/or an understanding of India issues
- Australian citizen with Negative Vetting 1 or 2 Security Clearance

You must have a current NV1 Security Clearance at a minimum and be an Australian Citizen to be considered.

Salary / Rate

- Hourly rate - $70/hr - $85/hr + 11.5% Super (depending on experience)
- Barton location
- 12-month contract, with 2 x 12-month extension options
