Structural Engineer - ( 230000MF )
Description
Our growing Structural team in Perth are currently seeking a motivated Engineer to join and contribute to the success of our team.
The candidate will ideally have a minimum 2 years experience working on commercial buildings and be an enthusiastic, energetic Engineer keen to contribute to the culture of the office. You will service projects including those of relatively large size, of high complexity and with multiple clients.
We operate across all building types, including health, education, defence, retail and commercial buildings. The role will enable you to thrive in a successful global firm during this exciting chapter of growth.
Day to day tasks would involve:
- Perform structural engineering design which may include engineering drawings, calculations, reports, design criteria, to support engineering projects such as airports, bridges, tunnels, water and sewage systems as well as construction, remodeling, renovation, and maintenance of buildings.
- Perform calculations to analyze and design structural system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Assist in the evaluation and selection of structural systems and materials and the development of structural specifications.
- Contribute to the development of structural systems, through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
- Prepare structural engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans and schedules.
- Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
- Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
- Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
- Participate in value engineering and basic cost estimating to support engineering projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering
- Ideally have minimum 2 years previous experience working in an engineering consultancy environment working on buildings projects. Projects within the education, health and defence sectors would be advantageous however not compulsory
- Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards
- Structural software knowledge of SpaceGass, RAM Concept, ETABS or similar design programs
- Knowledge of building stability analysis and corresponding detailing
- Knowledge and capability across post tensioned and reinforced concrete, steel, masonry and timber design fields
- Ideally be well connected/networked within the industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
- Problem solving mindset with strong interpersonal skills
