About the role

As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for core operational and financial management tasks. You will collaborate with all department managers and staff; to ensure operational and procedural compliance on all finance-related functions. In conjunction with the Sydney-based CFO, you will plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, evaluate, and improve upon the organisation’s finance function and performance. This is an opportunity to influence how the finance department evolves; to business partner with high-level stakeholders of a company that is young, creative, and continuing to grow, while being supported in developing your career with ongoing professional development.

This position will suit a degree qualified Accountant with strong Accounts Payable/Receivable experience. As a young company, there is the ability to progress to the next level in your finance career.

Role and Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance department

• Ensure that payroll,



accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliation functions are completed promptly

• Ensure the finance team proactively collaborate and integrate with other key stakeholders within the business (business partnering)

• Manage month-end close, Review GL transactions, reconciliations and ensure data integrity

• Strive to continually improve operational controls within the business and develop and implement accounting and administrative processes

• Nurture strong relationships with external Accountants and Auditors

• Manage the company’s yearly & half-yearly statutory reporting requirements (GPFR Tier 1)

• Facilitate external and internal audit requirements

• Assist with

• preparation of financial statements

• the annual audit process

• preparation of annual income tax return with external accountants

• preparation of R&D; tax compliance with our external accountants

• development of company policies and implementation/adherence

• board reporting and financial forecasts

• Work with CFO on business planning and financial strategy

• Ensure corporate governance and statutory reporting requirements are met

• Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures

• Budgeting & cash management - update and maintain management accounts,

• Work with CFO on business planning and overall financial strategy

• Ensure quality and timeliness of all reporting requirements

• Oversee tax compliance - BAS, FBT, Payroll tax, Superannuation and Workers Compensation

• Assist in covering duties of other accounting and administrative employees during periods of absence

• Liaise with the Head of People & Culture regarding recruitment and salary increases

• Any other tasks as directed by the CEO and CFO

Education & Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Finance/Commerce/Business (or equivalent)

• CA/CPA qualification (preferred)

Experience

• 1 – 2 years in a similar role, or;

• 3+ years’ experience in a commercial accountant or audit role

• Proven interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, develop and maintain key relationships across multiple stakeholders

• Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, produce high quality work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Committed to continuous improvement

• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and sound knowledge of internal controls

• Proficiency in XERO and accounts payable/receivable

• Experience with Pivot Tables and Lookup functions is essential

• Knowledge and understanding of various Xero Marketplace addons and connectors is favourable

• Basic understanding of PowerPivot, Power Query, Power BI, DAX, Python is favourable but not essential

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Word, PPT) is required

• Advanced Excel skills are essential, including:

• Pivot tables and lookup functions

• Understanding of Powerpivot, Power Query, Power BI, and DAX is favourable but not essential

• Proficiency in payroll and payroll systems

• GPFR reporting experience is favourable but not essential
