About The Role
PolyNovo is seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our Research & Development team in Port Melbourne. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will provide essential laboratory support to the R&D; Team by efficiently performing standard laboratory procedures with minimal supervision, contributing to the successful development of research projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare test materials for product development and process trials.
- Conduct testing of materials during product development
- Maintain the laboratory, including maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- Carry out standard laboratory procedures with minimal supervision.
- Record data from experiments and standard procedures accurately and in accordance with GxP requirements.
- Set up, operate, and clean laboratory equipment, including routine calibration, maintenance, and safety checks; initiate repairs to equipment if required.
- Maintain a sound knowledge and awareness of safety regulations and operating procedures within the laboratory environment.
- Ensure the laboratory areas are clean, tidy, and safe.
- Conduct any other reasonable activity required to contribute to the achievement of the company's goals.
Other Responsibilities
- Ensure collaborative relationships with PolyNovo team members and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all documentation is reviewed, current and quality system compliant.
- Comply with all company quality standards, procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Operate within the requirements of the quality system and ensure responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the applicable regulatory and quality processes.
About You
- Diploma or degree qualification (minimum) in science, preferably in chemistry.
- Experience in a laboratory environment, including formulation of standard solutions, filtration, analytical balance, titrations, and distillation.
- Basic understanding of Organic Chemistry.
- Experience conducting GC, HPLC and spectroscopic methods (UV/VIS FTIR) is desirable.
- Basic understanding of the safe handling of chemicals and safety equipment and procedures.
- Ability to follow standard procedures accurately.
- Good organisational and observation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly conveying technical information to various audiences.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work flexibly at times outside of normal working hours.
- High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to constructively challenge assumptions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- There may be a requirement to visit external plants and supplier sites on occasion.
