Position Overview

- Employment Term: Permanent part time or casual
- Location: ON-SITE, Central Office (Brisbane, QLD)
- Remuneration: Social Community Home Care Disability Award Level 3 (pay point dependent on relevant experience). Superannuation.

The Counsellor Support Worker's role is to support the service users' journey to safety. Counsellor Support Workers are integral members of the Womensline team as they contribute to the delivery of domestic and family violence support to Queensland women by answering calls with compassion and immediately facilitating practical needs for service users as directed. Counsellor Support Workers assist Crisis Intervention Counsellors and the broader team by triaging calls, taking action on client-related tasks such as arranging emergency accommodation and travel and assisting with referral pathway procedures. Counsellor Support Workers also contribute to the safety of service users through the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of work (e.g., concise database entries and prompt action to allocated tasks).

Position Requirements





- 1+ years of professional experience in the social and community service sector.
- Exceptional and effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Confident IT and telephone communication skills with a proven ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- Proven ability to remain calm in sensitive situations – experience in a fast-paced environment is highly regarded.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the effects, causes and dynamics of domestic and family violence.
- Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and enhance relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including both government and non-government organisations.
- High level of empathy and cultural awareness when engaging with diverse groups; including working towards supportive and culturally safe spaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Positive Notice Blue Card and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain before commencing employment.
- Committed to attending DVC’s Central Brisbane Office for all shifts.
- Must be available to attend mandatory onboarding training and shadow shifts before commencing permanent roster.
- Valid photo ID.
- Right to work in Australia.

Desirable

- Tertiary qualification (or working towards completion)



in relevant areas such as social, behavioural, and criminology sciences OR obtained appropriate social and community services certifications.
- Sound knowledge (or willingness to acquire) about Queensland Domestic Violence Legislation, particularly the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012.
