The Koorie Families as First Educator Practitioner aims to support Aboriginal families to build their capacity to be able to confidently support their children's early learning and development by using a strengths-based approach that empowers parents/carers as first educators of their children. Practitioners support families through the implementation of culturally appropriate evidence based positive parenting support programs. They will create a culturally safe workplace for families and children to learn, supporting positive parent-child interactions and development of parenting skills, supporting child development and school readiness. Provide information about services including maternal child health, playgroup, early childhood education services including kindergarten.

Key Selection Criteria:
• Ability to apply knowledge and experience to develop and implement systems to plan and monitor own performance.
• Ability to solve problems based on operational knowledge and experience,



scanning for useful information, looking for underlying causes and suggesting alternative actions.
• Communicate and liaise with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal to achieve program objectives and goals.
• Ability to understand underlying needs and issues of stakeholders to effectively develop and implement solutions.
• Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.

Qualification/s:
Certificate IV Community Services.

Other Screening Requirements:
A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate & Booster information or a valid medical exemption.
