About the role:
Provide coordination and leadership in Youth, Sport and Recreation (YSR) teams. Guided by individuals, families, community needs, and in support of the strategic direction of East Arnhem Regional Council, the Youth Support Coordinator will assist the YSR program to support young people and their families' experiencing vulnerabilities through linking them with appropriate services and cultural support pathways and provide proactive follow-up and follow-through.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work or a similar field, with a strong understanding of practices to support young people and their families to navigate early indicators of VSU/AOD, mental health and anti-social behavi
- Qualifications and or experience in delivering and coordinating a range of therapeutic interventions to reduce risk-taking behaviours.
- Demonstrated prior experience working with First Nation young people, families, and communities.
- Demonstrated prior experience providing effective leadership and supervision to staff working in a community service setting.
- Demonstrated ability to assess program capacity and strengthen service over time.
- Have a knowledge of and commitment to apply a strength based and trauma informed approach, including working within an Indigenous cultural framework.
- Strong organisational skills including ability to develop and implement case management plans, maintain accurate case notes, and write case management reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including high level written and oral communication, mediationand negotiation skills.
- Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to live, work and thrive in complex cross cultural environments.
- Must hold a current and valid C Class Driver’s Licence with the ability to driver a manual transmission vehicle.
It would be desirable if you also possessed:
- Previous experience planning, implementing, and monitoring Youth best practice models of care.
- Previous experience working with people experiencing vulnerabilities in a remote setting.
- Previous experience living and/or working in remote Australian First Nations ’communities.
- Demonstrated high level of cross-cultural awareness to ensure effective participation in a multi-cultural workplace.
- Awareness of issues affecting First Nations People in Australia.
Employees must also be prepared to travel to remote communities via various means, including 4WD vehicles and light aircraft.
Employment with the EARC is subject to a Criminal History Check and the ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the inherent requirements to their position.

What you'll get in return:
Full time permanent position.
Level 6 – Salary $87,190 - $92,500 (excluding super and locality allowance) with annual wage increase opportunities built into our EBA.
You will also benefit from 6 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.
