About the role:
You will provide outstanding leadership to YSR and Library services in Galiwin’ku. Supporting the strategic direction of East Arnhem Regional Council, and guided by community needs, this role will ensure cohesive operations across both services.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:
- Minimum 2 years demonstrated prior experience in a similar role, and or relevant educational qualification (e.g. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Youth Work, Library services, Education, Community Development, Sport and Recreation, or related fields).
- Robust team leadership experience, including excellent interpersonal,
mediation and negotiation skills, and ability to drive excellence.
- High level written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage program capacity, maintaining appropriate boundaries for a remote service and staff.
- Strong organisational skills, with prior experience leading a complex service space with competing internal and external demands.
- Have a knowledge of and commitment to apply a strength based and community development approach, including working within an Indigenous cultural framework.
- Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to live, work and thrive in complex cross-cultural environments.
- Strong cross-cultural awareness, respect, and understanding of First Nations people in Australia and their history.
- Must hold a current and valid C Class Driver’s Licence with the ability to driver a manual transmission vehicle
It would be desirable if you also possessed:
- Prior experience managing high demand remote multipurpose facilities.
- Remote four-wheel drive experience and training.
- Trauma informed care and youth case management.
- Previous experience living and/or working in remote Australian First Nations’ communities.
All employment with EARC is subject to the successful completion of a Criminal History Check and the ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance.
Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the position.
The preferred applicant must be prepared to travel and work for short periods in remote communities by various means including boat and light aircraft.

What you'll get in return:
Full Time Permanent employment.
Level 7 - Salary $95,275.18 - $101,077.51 (excluding superannuation contributions and locality allowance) with annual wage increase opportunities built into our EBA.
You will also benefit from 6 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.
