ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of the Accountant is to supervise the day-to-day operations of the Finance department, to oversee the Finance department’s input in all AIB’s projects and for overseeing all management and compliance reporting (payroll and non-payroll).

This position will work closely with the Finance Director to create the “best in class” Finance and Reporting function by ensuring the Finance departments workload, motivation and performance levels are maintained. This will include mentoring and coaching staff to develop their skills, knowledge, and contribution to the team.

The Accountant will become a System Administrator for NetSuite, AIB’s accounting package, and point of contact on all significant queries, ensuring that all key processes are documented and communicated to relevant staff.

The Accountant will play an important role in supporting the annual budgeting and forecasting process by providing data and systems support to the Finance Director. Furthermore, the Accountant is responsible for the processing of BAS, Payroll Tax and Fringe Benefit tax (FBT).

This position is responsible for the following key accountabilities and the achievement of Key Performance Indicators:

Reporting and Analysis





- Provide monthly finance and related reports to Executives and Managers (i.e., CFO pack)
- Provide supporting commentary and highlight actions for improvement to achieve the planed business objectives
- Participate in the development, refinement, and consolidation of AIB’s annual business plans, budgets and reforecasting
- Undertake reporting and analysis as required, including business plans and management information to understand trends and areas for improvement

Accounts Receivable

- Oversee processing of incoming payments, payment plan and credit card chargeback management
- Ensure all nominated general ledgers are reconciled to the agreed monthly timelines
- Monthly reconciliations of AIB’s bank accounts
- Ensure accurate and timely month end processing
- Oversee management of the student management system
- Assist in systems testing for upgrades

Accounts Payables

- Ensure that all accounts payable invoices are signed by an authorising manager(s) in accordance with delegation policy, are expensed from the correct general ledgers, expensed in appropriate months, and are paid in accordance with the terms of payment stated on the compliant tax invoice
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including suppliers
- Oversee maintenance of asset register and depreciation schedule
- Ensure all nominated general ledgers are reconciled and accruals are made
- Ensure accurate and timely month end processing

Payroll

- Oversee the processing of payroll and the calculation of commission
- Set up and document controls to ensure that these are followed, including monthly reconciliations, and checking of payroll journals
- Assist in systems testing for system upgrades
- Researching and monitoring new developments in payroll operations and implementing payroll changes

Revenue

- Oversee Revenue recognition




- Fee Help reporting & verification as per agreed timelines
- Assist in compiling information for forecasts and the annual budget
- Ensure all nominated general ledgers are reconciled and accruals are made

NetSuite Administrator

- Enhance use of NetSuite system; identify areas of improvement in AIB’s use of the system, both within Finance and its interaction with other functions and systems
- Consider how NetSuite can be integrated with other systems to provide better controls, transfer of data and value-adding information to the business.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

- 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- An understanding of processes required
- Demonstrate leadership across the organization and within the team
- Ability to communicate both orally and written with people at all levels
- Manage staff/resources and deadlines to achieve objectives of the team
- Highly organized, flexible, and proactive approach to the work environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products with intermediate Excel skills
- Experience and proficiency of the NetSuite accounting package is desirable, but not essential
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant program (ie. Bachelor of Commerce or an alternative Finance related degree)
