Job Description

As a Junior Financial/Business Analyst you will be part of the team providing financial management and support to Nine’s News and Current affairs departments. These departments produce Nine’s nationwide local news bulletins, A Current Affair, Today, Today Extra and 60 Minutes. They also look after the Canberra, Los Angeles and London news bureaus.

The members of the News and Current Affairs team are highly experienced, passionate and engaged, and are committed to the mentoring and career development of the Junior Analyst. Day to day you will be responsible for:

- Month end reporting for the Vic and Qld News Departments including variance analysis, forecasting, management of accruals
- Preparation of Budgets
- Presenting to Department Managers / Executive Producers actuals and forecast position
- Identifying any financial concerns, suggesting improvements and implementing agreed changes on a regular basis
- Assisting News Unit Managers with month end process including journal review and posting
- Continually reviewing performance/expenditure trends and advising stakeholders of risks and opportunities
- Developing and recommending remedial action as required
- Ad hoc reporting for material variances to budget to provide guidance to Executive producers
- Management of Corporate Visa Card and outstanding expense claim accruals
- Annual / Long Service Leave taken analysis and reporting
- Collection, submission and recording of staff payroll invoices and entitlements (On-air image) for authorisation and payment
- Providing financial and analytical support to the Finance Manager – News & CA, and Senior Business Analyst

You thrive under pressure and can remain calm and focussed when working to tight deadlines and managing competing priorities.





Here’s what we would like you to bring:

- Tertiary

Qualifications

and membership of a professional accounting body such as CPA Australia
- Some experience in a financial or accountant role
- The ability to make recommendations to achieve desired business objectives
- Self-motivation and the ability to demonstrates initiative
- The ability to work collaboratively in a team under tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail

Media industry experience is not essential, although it would be extremely beneficial. As would skills in Excel (advanced), D365 and TM1.
