Position Details
The Business Intelligence Developer role is part of the Data Insights team in DELWP's Forest, Fire and Regions (FFR) Group. This position works with business units across the Group and its agency partners, to develop and deliver business intelligence reporting and data analytics solutions. The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for designing and developing a diverse range of Power BI dashboards and creative visualisations of Forest and Fire Management operations and business management data. The Business Intelligence Developer also services data requests from Forest, Fire and Regions internal and external stakeholders.
Data Insights is a multi-disciplinary and specialised in-house data team, providing a range of centralised services, including business intelligence reporting, predictive analytics, and data management, to Forest, Fire and Regions Group and Victoria's land and emergency management partner agencies.
Data Insights is transforming the way Forest, Fire and Regions Group uses data to support its role in creating safe, liveable, inclusive, and sustainable communities, and thriving natural environments.
Accountabilities
- Designing and developing complex, regular reports and visualisations using Microsoft Power BI
- Supporting the design, deployment and management of the Forest Fire and Regions Group's Business Intelligence technology stack
- Examining and implementing innovative approaches for the presentation of Forest Fire and Regions data and information to support stakeholder decision making and performance monitoring.
- Contributing to the development new analytical products and research programs that provide actionable insights to inform the ongoing policy development and service delivery
- Servicing internal and external requests for FFMVic fire and emergency management operational data.
- To practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills and experience as a business intelligence developer (specialising in Microsoft Power BI and SSRS).
- Proficient in SQL and DAX.
- Highly creative with proven excellence in analytical thinking and the translation of unstructured and structured data into informative data visuals and reports.
- Demonstrated experience supporting business stakeholders during design, prototyping, development,
and implementation phases of business intelligence projects.
- Demonstrated experience capturing and documenting user requirements for Business Intelligence reporting.
This is a fixed term position available for a period until 31 March 2024. The work location for this position is adaptable within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
