Job description:

This position provides timely and high-quality advice that contributes to the overall operation of the Branch primarily through maintaining and querying databases. Working with large data sets from a range of government and private organisations, the Data Analyst will use Microsoft SQL Server (Management Studio, Integration Services and Reporting Services) to build and maintain the relevant tools, queries, and processes to optimise identification of targets for investigation; and carry out research and analysis activities relating to State taxation issues as required.

Hours per fortnight

Up to 73.5 - hours flexible - talk to us about how this could work for you. We are open to considering a range of flexible work options including part-time hours.

Duties

This position provides timely and high-quality advice that contributes to the overall operation of the Branch primarily through maintaining and querying databases.

Working with large data sets from a range of government and private organisations, the Data Analyst will use Microsoft SQL Server (Management Studio, Integration Services and Reporting Services) to build and maintain the relevant tools, queries,



and processes to optimise identification of targets for investigation; and carry out research and analysis activities relating to State taxation issues as required.

In the context of the selection criteria, to be successful in the position applicants will have:

- an analytical mind, sound logic and an aptitude for solving technical problems, including the ability to identify and report on possible compliance risks posed by individuals or groups, using complex data sets;
- an aptitude for working with information and communication technology, particularly databases; and
- the ability to develop expertise with Business Intelligence tools, including Microsoft SQL.

Desirable Requirements

Diploma or Advanced Diploma, completion, or partial completion, of relevant tertiary qualifications.
