We are looking to hire an experienced Finance Manager to join our dynamic team at Memories in Melbourne.
Growing your career as a Full Time Finance Manager is a fantastic opportunity to develop relevant skills.
If you are strong in teamwork, presentation and have the right drive for the job, then apply for the position of Finance Manager at Memories today!
Memories Group Ltd ('MGL') is on a mission to celebrate humanity’s most important memories. We see the opportunity to unlock archaic sectors where profound memories are created but not currently captured. We also see an opportunity to consolidate fragmented ecosystems emerging around these sectors in response to underserved consumer demand and realise “platform economics”.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time (would consider part-time for the appropriate candidate) Finance Manager to join our team working as a hybrid employee in Melbourne (mixture of in-office workdays and working from home days) leading a small team and reporting directly to our Chief Financial & Operations Officer!
We’re still in our lean start-up chapter which means all roles including this one offers the opportunity to have an immense direct impact on our success because we all have real hands-on generalist style roles with a broad range of responsibilities; we own operational processes end to end while carving out time to play strategic roles for future success.
If you decide to apply for this vacancy, please include a cover letter addressing the initial selection criteria towards the end of this ad. (PDF is preferred but we can also accept Word documents)
This Opportunity:

- Lead annual audit with EY
- Liaise with external accountants on taxation returns as needed (FBT, GST, ITR)

- Align with cross-functional stakeholders to build strong working relationships
Ideal New Starter**:
- Strong technical understanding of accounting/financial management through a relevant qualification (e.g. CPA/CA)
- Excellent communication and ability to adopt a whole business perspective when solving issues and developing plans
- Financial leadership within business and accountability to the financial health of the business
- The ability to quickly master systems/platforms independently or previous experience using Xero, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook), ApprovalMax, Docusign, Paypal, Stripe
**Diversity in Hiring Statement: We know that memories are created uniquely by every individual so in-house we need a range of work experiences, life experiences, approaches to work, skill capabilities, and personal expressions. We hope a diverse pool of candidates will apply even if they do not "tick" all of our experience boxes above, but we also would love to hear how we can keep improving our hiring approach to be more inclusive.
Initial Selection Criteria:
1. We don’t have a preference if you have experience more in public or private practice,
as we know there are valuable skills to learn from both environments; we’re interested in hearing more about your experience in either/both private/public practice and what advantages you have taken from these experiences to influence your career ongoing.
2. Some workers are more comfortable playing a controlled part into a larger picture while others lean towards being the person to own a process or imbed themselves in multiple areas of a business (neither of these are ‘wrong’, it’s just personal preference to work!); we want to know more about what impact you are wanting to have on a team and organisation.
3. There are many ways to assess strengths so initially we’re more interested in understanding personal motivation and areas of passion; we want to know what your favourite project/piece of work in a previous role has been.
4. We want to ensure everyone is set up for success at MGL, this includes making sure we have an inclusive hiring experience for all candidates; we’d like to know if there are any accommodations or considerations we can offer to ensure your recruitment experience is equitable!
Our Environment:
- Flexible Work: we know work life balance looks different to every team member so we offer a flexible approach with our teams to deciding where, when, and how our work is achieved.
- Holistic Remuneration Approach: we aim to do more than just competitive base salaries; we offer annual market benchmarking reviews, Employee Option/Share plans, and annual bonus schemes.
- Connected Benefits: our employees have access to 5 weeks of Annual Leave, ongoing Wellbeing initiatives, recognition rewards and continuous learning & development offerings.
Australian Working Rights Restrictions:
This role must be filled by someone residing in Australia and we are not currently in a position to offer visa sponsorship; while we welcome applications from Temporary Residents, the successful candidate will need to have and maintain Australian working rights independently.
