Your New Employer:

Your new employer is an entrepreneurial, innovative and fast growth mid-market financial services company based in Chatswood. They’ve grown rapidly during COVID and are eyeing further ambitious organic growth through launching new products, improving current product offerings and expanding internationally. They have a friendly and dynamic culture that thrives on collaboration, inclusion and diversity. Technology is deeply embedded with business outcomes and ultimately technology is their core business. Consequently, you’ll have the ability to work closely with senior executives and influence and enable business impact. They have a deep sense of mission and purpose and values-driven leaders who care a lot about empathy, humility and the psychological safety of their employees. You’ll have the autonomy and empowerment to drive change and uplift their PMO practices. You’ll have clear direction, and feel highly engaged with a strong, well-defined and communicated vision and business strategy that focuses on innovation, purpose and the customer at its core. You’ll be developed and mentored, as this company has progressive learning programs for staff with a core focus on providing opportunities for you to reach your full potential within a positive working setting that celebrates success. You’ll also have plenty of time to spend with your family and on your health, as this company strongly encourages work-life balance, flexible working and remote working (3 days office – Mon/Tues/Wed).

Your New Role:

You’ll lead a lean portfolio governance function, enabling the delivery of significant business change and tech stack transformation. You’ll provide leadership, integration and management of PMO processes and functions to improve the consistency and efficiency of change delivery from inception through to successful execution. You’ll bring experience from both traditional and agile delivery models to implement a pragmatic, right sized and fit for purpose delivery methodology and governance function spanning large scale transformation through to minor strategic changes. A critical success factor in this role is your ability to bring technology and business stakeholders together on strategic initiatives and help drive collaboration and compromise in the definition and delivery of change.

This will be a facilitation role – where you’ll work with business stakeholders and give them the structure to be successful. You’ll be an enabler not a blocker and will have the tools to report appropriately upwards and outwards.

Your Key Accountabilities:

- Lead the design, implementation, and operations of a project management methodology appropriate for a mid-market Insurance organisation, including standards and tools;
- Lead lean agile operations, ensuring delivery ceremonies are planned and executed successfully (e.g. quarterly planning);
- Lead portfolio governance, including a reporting framework to provide a holistic view of all activities across the portfolio and manage the lifecycle of initiatives through phases, ensuring appropriate approvals are in place;
- Enable the Portfolio Steering Committee through preparation of high-quality initiative status and recommendations;
- Manage interdependencies and coordination across initiatives to ensure that information relating to deliverables, risks and issues are effectively communicated between stakeholders and that key performance indicators are monitored and evaluated;
- Influence the utilisation and impact of scarce business resources in order to meet project outcomes;
- Play an active role in managing the portfolio roadmap and assist with management of critical initiatives as required;
- Support CAPEX management for the project portfolio, including budget planning and management;
- Work closely with the Platforms, Operations, and Architecture teams to ensure initiatives are aligned with infrastructure, architecture and security roadmaps; and
- Manage effective engagement and delivery of third parties; and ensure third party engagements are budgeted and paid appropriately.

Your Skills & Experience

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar Head of PMO role. You’ll have proven experience leading PMO functions;

- Expertise implementing both Agile and waterfall methodologies, with the ability to manage the complexities of blending these approaches across projects. Experience scaling agile methodologies (across teams), such as SAFe or Disciplined Agile highly desired;
- Superior understanding of IT technologies, delivery frameworks and change management techniques;
- Strong CAPEX management experience, plus experience delivering transformation initiatives (including business case management);
- Strong ability to drive change and foster a culture of agility and continuous improvement;
- Strong resource management experience to match forecast demands;
- Strong experience managing teams and highly developed leadership and mentoring skills;
- You will be a driver who enjoys getting things done. You will possess a strong partnership and relationship focus with excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
- Above all else, you will have a humble, kind, friendly and trustworthy personality, with excellent listening skills. You will possess a strong customer orientation and be passionate about continuing to grow and develop in your role. You will be disciplined, articulate and conversational and get excited by the prospect of working for an entrepreneurial and growing market leader.
