Norwest Private Hospital is located in the rapidly developing North West corridor of Sydney and is operated by Healthscope, a leading provider of private healthcare in Australia. The hospital has 277 beds and is a high acuity facility with an Emergency Department located in Sydney's Bella Vista.
As the Nurse Unit Manager – Casual Nurse Bank your responsibilities will include:
Key liaison for casual, flexi crew and other Healthscope casual staff and Agency.
Daily allocations to vacant shifts in roster scheduling for clinical areas in the hospital and forecast future rostering for the casual nurse bank.
Liaison with Talent Acquisition team for recruitment in relation to building casual nurse bank.
On-boarding casual nurses and conducting one month, three month and annual Performance Reviews.
Monitoring casual nurse bank competencies as new hires and ongoing, aligning to National Standards and clinical best practice.
Monitor and facilitate casual nurses AIN/EN/RN attendance of mandatory training.
Retention of undergraduate casual AINs with strong focus on professional growth and career pathway programs working closely with the Clinical Development Coordinator
Working closely with Hospital Coordinators, Nursing/Midwifery Unit Managers and other casual nurse bank managers within Healthscope along with Nurse/Midwife Agencies for immediate and forward planning and rostering (scheduling) forecasting of clinical nursing shortfalls throughout the hospital.
Essential Criteria:
Bachelor of Nursing
Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration (no restrictions)
At least 5 years’ experience in an Acute Care facility undertaking a management role
Experience in staffing allocations/rostering/models of care/skill mix in an Acute Care hospital environment
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and problem solving
Solid organisational skills, ability to multi-task under pressure
Sound knowledge of HR policies and procedures
Experience with recruitment
Excellent IT computer literacy and attention to detail data entry
Workforce reporting knowledge
Desirable:
Recognised leadership or management qualifications (or evidence of working towards)
Knowledge of time and attendance and scheduling software
