About the role

John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Occupational Therapist to join our team on a casual basis for weekday leave cover, often with advanced notice. Sick leave cover will be offered as notified of shift availability. Ability to work casual shifts at other acute and rehabilitation sites across the Healthscope network in Victoria.

About us

John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, an emergency department, 5 operating theatres, 12 bed Critical Care Complex and a busy day surgery/endoscopy unit the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community.

The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.

As an Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities will include:

Facilitate evidence-based group therapy for mental health concerns,



within both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Deliver therapeutic services to patients with a broad range of psychopathology, including psychoeducation and skills-based sessions

Provide individual sessions to inpatients as required

Have strong risk assessment and safety planning skills

Work collaboratively with admitting psychiatrists, Allied Health clinicians and nursing staff

Have strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively

Essential Criteria:

Authority to Work in Australia

Working with Children check

Appropriate tertiary qualification/s pertaining to specific discipline/designation

Registration with AHPRA as relevant

Experience and expertise in the delivery of a broad range of evidence based therapeutic approaches, including but not limited to CBT, DBT and ACT

Clinical expertise and commitment to high quality patient care and continuous improvement

Self-motivated and proven ability to work as part of a high functioning team

Highly developed interpersonal skills, proactive, motivated and patient-focused
