Policy Adviser

Multiple Policy Adviser roles are available in the Education Policy and Reform Division, which leads the development of the Department's school reform agenda and designs evidence-based policy to improve outcomes for children and young people, in partnership with the educational profession, peak bodies and Departmental and external experts.

About the role

We are looking for Policy Advisers with analytical, conceptual and writing skills to undertake policy analysis and develop evidence-based recommendations for reforms to drive improvements in Victoria's education system.

The Policy Adviser will work on strategic projects at every stage of the policy cycle, including research, analysis, development of options and advice, and support for implementation, to develop and progress reforms and contribute to the implementation of priority initiatives.

The role will sit within a high-performing team that is supportive, friendly and passionate about driving policy reform that improves outcomes for young people, and provides numerous opportunities for professional learning and development.

The roles are available on a full-time basis, but flexible arrangements will be considered.

Ongoing and fixed term positions available.

Current working arrangements are a combination of face-to-face and remote work.





About the Education Policy and Reform Division

We care about our work and take pride in what we achieve. The Division leads the development of the Department's reform agenda and designs evidence-based policy, in partnership with the educational profession, peak bodies and Departmental and external experts. We find our work satisfying because it provides the opportunity to contribute to long-term improvements in outcomes for children and young people.

The Education Policy and Reform Division has two branches: Education System Connections and Reform Branch, and School Education Policy and Reform Branch.

The Education System Connections and Reform Branch undertakes policy development and provides advice related to priority cohorts, equity in education and student wellbeing. It drives coordination of policy for children and young people across government.

The School Education Policy and Reform Branch identifies and develops long-term reforms that will improve school education. It leads strategic policy projects on priority reform areas and supports the Department's existing school reform agenda.

There are vacant positions in both the Education System Connections and Reform Branch and the School Education Policy and Reform Branch.
