An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Governance branch as Policy Officer at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The Public Sector Governance team provides governance and policy advice to the Premier, ministers and senior executives and this position offers an opportunity to work at the centre of the Victorian Government on topical and challenging policy issues relating to public administration.

As a Policy Officer in the Public Sector Governance team, you will work in a fast-paced and vibrant policy environment, in a supportive and engaged team.

This is a unique opportunity to do interesting, important and varied work to contribute to good governance in the Victorian public sector. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the longer-term strategic projects in the team and the Branch.





To be successful in the role you will have some experience in policy, and/or an interest in good governance and sound public administration.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

1. Demonstrated policy experience including analysing and evaluating information, developing solutions to policy problems and understanding government processes and the role of Parliament, Ministers, and the public service.
2. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and complete set tasks in a fast-paced workplace.
3. Well-developed written communication skills and ability to prepare emails and briefings using clear, concise and grammatically correct language with close attention to detail.
4. Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations.
5. Proven ability to clearly and confidently communicate with people at all levels.
