Why this role matters:
The Division of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is responsible for supporting a diverse and inclusive staff and student community and working with partner communities and broader society towards positive change. The Division of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is also responsible for several KPIs for staff and student equity.
The Project Manager plays a lead role within Access, Equity & Inclusion in the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of initiatives across a university-wide commitment towards the Gateway Equity Target.
The role entails developing project planning documentation, identifying, and driving appropriate project teams and initiating and overseeing the student academic support piece of the Gateway Equity initiative, including managing all stakeholder engagement and quality assurance.
Accountabilities:
- Manage, lead and actively participate in project working groups and the Student Equity Steering Committee to drive the realisation of strategic outcomes through effective project coordination.
- Oversee and manage the delivery of initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals associated with student educational support within faculty’s and PVCESE programs as part of the Gateway Equity Program.
- Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, change requests and financials and work with the Steering Committee and project working groups to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
- Manage adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development and implementation.
- Provide detailed and timely advice and reporting to the Student Equity Steering Committee on all relevant initiatives and project matters, and ensure that project issues are identified and resolved promptly, and that agreed actions and desired outcomes are communicated appropriately to all impacted parties.
- Provide detailed, accurate and consistent project and financial reports to support the University-wide distributed responsibility model and progress towards the Gateway Equity Target.
- Provide high level advice and support to the Director, Access, Equity & Inclusion as well as other senior leadership across the initiative, and work closely with key staff on the achievement of strategic objectives and operational functions of the project.
Skills and Experience:
To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
- High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft suite, Wrike (project management tool).
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
