Experienced Safety Advisor required for a Government department in Perth CBD
Your new company
A leading Transport and Infrastructure State Government department is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to commence in June 2023, on an initial 6-12 month temporary basis. This role will require you to work full time hours based in an office in Perth CBD, however site visits will be required throughout.
Your new role
As the Safety Advisor you will be responsible for the development and coordination of the organisation's compliance and assurance program. You will responsible for duties such as:
- Undertaking worksite safety inspections, identifying risks and addressing issues as needed
- Auditing contractors and creating reports on contractor compliance to safety requirements
- Implement, monitor and review department OSH requirements, developing strategies and procedures as required
- Prepare and manage communications and documents advising on specific OSH policies and plans for projects
- Coordinate, develop and monitor department Audit Schedule and Risk Treatment Action Plans.
- Participate in risk assessment workshops
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you will meet the following requirements:
- Completion or significant progression towards a Tertiary or equivalent qualification in a relevant field or discipline
- Practical application and understanding of the safety principles required of the OSH Act 1984 and Rail Safety National Law Act WA 2015
- Practical application and understanding of the safety principles required of the AS/NZS ISO 45001 and AS/NZS ISO 9001
- Application and understanding of quality assurance principles, risk management principles, and quality and safety management systems
- Possession of a WA 'C' or 'C-A' Class Driver's Licence or equivalent
- Possession of a Supervised Worker (SW) Track Access Permit, or willingness to obtain
- Possession of a National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain
- Satisfactory completion of a Medical will be required
What you'll get in return
You will be offered a full-time, temporary engagement on an expected 6-12 month basis, with the chance of extension. You will be working in an office based in Perth CBD, conveniently located near public transport and paid parking facilities. Site visits will be required in this role, commencing June 2023.
