The Role
The role of Software Engineer at CodeFish Studio is not your standard developer role. Being a small team we can wear many hats during the day. Our Software Engineers are a key role within the team which not only deliver quality engineering work but play a key role in scoping and planning work as well as supporting other developers in the team.
You are responsible for the execution of front end and back end development work,
contributing to the delivery of quality solutions for our clients and CodeFish Studio alike.
About you
You are comfortable taking on responsibility to own and deliver across large or small projects, you are well organised and can set your priorities. You are inquisitive by nature - you are not afraid to ask how, or why of others to gain more detailed information - or even how might we… You know you don’t know everything, and know others hold important information to be able to deliver valuable solutions.
You love delivering solutions and excel at new and innovative projects. You are a creator, you know the value in building a solution, not buying off the shelf and working around it.

Objectives of this Role
- Deliver quality and profitable digital solutions.
- Contribute to the general operations of CodeFish Studio.
- Assist in the refinement of quality assurance practices and procedures.
- Ensure existing solutions are maintained and operating as expected.
- Build healthy and valued relationships with our clients and the CodeFish Studio and CodeFish Garage teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Create software applications and programs to technical specifications.
- Deliver quality and profitable digital solutions.
- Be involved in scoping and quoting projects.
- Test and evaluate your own, and other team members code or solutions to ensure they meet or exceed requirements.
- Provide maintenance and support for existing solutions (as outlined in client Maintenance and Support plans).
- Provide status updates at regular intervals (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly) for your project work.
- Look for opportunities to improve client solutions and provide them with peace of mind that we are actively supporting their software solutions.
- Contribute to the team's knowledge and have input on areas of improvement.
- Solve issues and develop workarounds and alternative solutions in consultation with the project team.
Core Technologies, Languages
- At least 3+ years of experience with Javascript (React, Vue.js, React-native)
- At least 1 year of experience with Java/Android development.
- PHP experience is highly regarded.
- Previously demonstrated experience with IOT, specifically around MQTT, low level bluetooth communications or embedded firmware.
- Solid Linux knowledge and understanding of Cloud Concepts
- Previous experience with AWS or AWS certification is highly regarded.
