About the Business Unit
Department of Justice and Community Safety comprises of eight regions, through which compliance, enforcement and regulatory services are provided to the Victorian community.
The Loddon Mallee Region provides services at Justice Service Centres in Bendigo, Swan Hill, Echuca and Mildura and at outreach locations across the region, including Castlemaine, Maryborough, Kerang, Robinvale, Kyneton and Ouyen. The region also has three prisons, two within the Loddon Prison Precinct which includes a medium risk facility (Loddon) and a restricted minimum facility (Middleton). The third prison is located at Maldon, a minimum risk women's facility; Tarrengower Prison.
In a Justice Service Centre, a Justice Officer provides a combination of reception and concierge functions, and administrative and business support services. In a prison workplace, the Justice Officer provides a range of corporate support services, within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility. In either environment, the role requires a strong focus on customer service, teamwork, integrity, accuracy, compliance and timeliness.
In the Loddon Mallee Region the Justice Officer role specialises in one of three streams – Human Resources, Finance, and Business Support. Over time,
there may be an opportunity to work in one or more of these streams, on a rotational basis, enabling career development opportunities and operational flexibility to the region. Appropriate support and training will be provided.
About the Role
The Justice Officer – Stores & Finance delivers services within prison facilities. This role is primarily based at Loddon Prison & Middleton at Castlemaine; facilities for male prisoners within the medium and restricted minimum-security categories but also provides services from Tarrengower Prison at Maldon, a minimum-security facility for female prisoners.
The Justice Officer – Stores & Finance provides timely and effective corporate services including warehouse, stores, forklift operations, finance support, purchasing, procurement, stock and inventory control, working in the prisoner shops and various other related duties.
This position requires direct prisoner contact and supervision and may involve weekend and public holiday work, in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement 2020.

About You
As our ideal candidate you will possess:
- Well-developed computer literacy
- Sound knowledge of and application of legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations
- Experience with Oracle or similar finance related system
- An understanding of shop, store and warehousing operations including associated stock management
