The Chance
Due to expansion of our commercial nursery, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Nursery Hand to join our professional and friendly team for 2-3 days per week. Our ideal working hours are Friday to Sunday from 8am to 4pm (or 9am to 5pm). Saturday and Sunday is a must but we are flexible on the Friday. There is also potential for additional hours to cover leave for our Nursery Manager.
The Role includes all works in the maintenance and ongoing management of the Wonga Park nursery Including:
- Pruning and maintaining our precious stock
- Potting up plants (transferring plants from small pots that are ready to grow on)
- Assisting with onloading and loading of plants and materials
- Propagation of our plant material (i.e. growing things from scratch)
- Tying and staking of tree stock
- Ensuring irrigation of all stock
- Potting of tree stock
- Weeding & spraying
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and conscientious manner.
- Occassional customer sales
About you
You will have/be:
- A current Drivers License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Experience as a nursery hand
- Horticultural qualifications (Highly valued)
- Retail experience (Highly valued)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Trustworthy and enjoy working in a quiet/peaceful environment
- Able to work on your own
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and up-skill
