Company Description Tora Health is a new Australian telehealth clinic preparing to launch, delivering diagnostics-led care with compounded Schedule 4 medicines prescribed where clinically appropriate. Our patients are people who take their health seriously — athletes and everyday trainers, people managing weight and metabolic health, and people who want to age well.
We are looking for our founding Medical Director: a senior doctor to develop Tora Health's clinical governance and compliance framework before launch, and to lead it as the clinic grows. This is first and foremost a governance leadership role — consulting and prescribing is available in addition, if and when you want it.
Tora Health is focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centred medical services supported by modern technology and evidence-based practice. The company values clinical excellence, collaborative care, and continuous improvement.
Role Description The Medical Director at Tora Health provides clinical leadership and oversight for medical programs, ensuring that care delivery meets high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with relevant regulations. This part-time remote role includes reviewing and developing clinical protocols, supervising and mentoring physicians and other clinicians, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on program design and evaluation.
Key Aspects of Role:
- Develop the clinic's clinical governance and compliance framework
— prescribing protocols (patient selection, baseline pathology, contraindications, monitoring schedules, escalation pathways), SOPs and the patient-safety framework
- Act as the clinic's named Medical Director, holding clinical accountability for the standards under which the clinic prescribes
- Ensure ongoing compliance with TGA, AHPRA and state prescribing requirements, and keep protocols current as regulation changes
- Oversee, credential and mentor the prescribing team — including reviewing prescribing patterns, audits, and adverse-event and incident processes
- Optionally, consult with patients via telehealth and prescribe where clinically appropriate
— this is additional to the role and remunerated separately, not a requirement
- Analyse clinical data to identify opportunities for improvement, participate in case reviews, and support the integration of evidence-based guidelines into daily practice
- Engage with internal stakeholders to align medical strategy with organisational goals, contributing to patient care policies and representing the clinical perspective in strategic planning
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted AHPRA registration (general or specialist); FRACGP / FACRRM well regarded
- Experience in clinical governance, medical leadership or compliance
- building or running protocols, audits and safety frameworks - Experience with compounded Schedule 4 medicines, or in integrative, sports or metabolic medicine
- or a solid, demonstrable interest and willingness to complete supported training
- Professional indemnity insurance appropriate to the role (and covering telehealth if you choose to consult)
- Proven ability to develop, implement and monitor clinical guidelines, quality improvement initiatives and patient safety measures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex medical information to clinical and non-clinical audiences
- Comfort with remote work, including proficiency with digital health tools, EMRs and virtual collaboration platforms
- Prior leadership or medical director experience in a healthcare organisation or clinical program strongly preferred - Ideally, you live it yourself
- you train, you look after your own health, and you understand patients who do the same
